What you should know if you’re considering adoption for your baby
Heather wrote a pamphlet for women in crisis pregnancies to detail all the things she wished she’d known when she was carrying her son. Using a grant from the band Pearl Jam, Concerned United Birthparents (CUB) published this pamphlet, which has been distributed to OB/GYNs, Planned Parenthood chapters, crisis pregnancy centers, and other places where pregnant women go for help. You can download a copy of the pamphlet online Here.
Heather has also written on other aspects of adoption and the birthmother experience. She is especially interested in the ways that state adoption laws need to be reformed. Heather speaks at various adoption conferences and maintains a high profile in the world of open adoption. She believes the public will never change its outmoded, stereotypical views of adoption as long as people can erroneously assume they do not know any birthmothers, so she makes a point of letting everyone she meets know her birthmother status.

"I can still remember how I felt after reading one of Heather Lowe's articles on adoption reform. I was blown away! For the first time since becoming a birthmother, I found courage to voice my opinions through writing too. (This was in 1999) I have always admired Heather's way with words, and her ability to be direct and concise. We, as birthmoms, are blessed to have such an amazing, talented woman, fighting for us, and for our children! Thanks Heather!"
