Painful cries of endless lonely times- spent without you by my side,
sacrifice- a choice is made- months go by
pain does not subside.
The papers signed- relinquishment finalized-
tears stream down my face,
another choice yet made that day-no relinquishment of my heart-
you and I's place.
A thousand times before my signature written-
a choice made to sign,
nothing could have prepared me for impact of the words on paper
I soon did find.
More than just some words on paper-
more than the finalization in signing my name,
did not take me long to realize life would go on without you-
I would never be the same.
Relinquished rights to parent you-
the best home for you I did find,
no signature out there could force me to surrender memories in my heart-
thoughts in my mind.
There is a signature on paper that relinquished you from my hands-
a permanent seperation
as we part,
forever in my heart lay the signature of one-
your mother
the signature of my heart.
